Christ the Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer is a very interesting statue. It will make you think. This statue is 120 feet tall and it took 9 years to make. Christ the Redeemer is on top of Mount Corcovado and it looks over Brazil’s city, Rio de Janeiro. This statue rises up above the city by 2,310 feet. The statue was christened which took five years. The mountain it is on became, virtually overnight, one of the must- see sights of the Americas.
The statue is made of marvel and soapstone. Christ the Redeemer was finished on October 12, 1931 and the French sculptor, Paul Landowski, and the engineer, Heitor da Silva, worked together to build the statue. This statue was originally going to be Christ carrying the cross. The inauguration for the statue was 77 years ago. This statue weighs 700 tons. Also, with all this together, it adds up to $250,000. In 2008, a year after it was a wonder, there was a bad storm. The statue was so high it was struck by lightning!! Now, most of the time, the statue would fall but the soapstone saved the religious figure and there were just a few cracks. This statue of the Christ provides inspiration to believers and artist.
In conclusion, this statue of the Christ became a wonder of the world in 2007 and is found in eastern part of Brazil. Christ the Redeemer is a statue that will make you think it is very interesting.
